How do you interpret these lyrics?

OK..I am not that good at this, but it seems like you gave yourself to someone else (heart and soul). And they are running away from the relationship or potential relationship....even though they ran away, what you gave them is still inside them. ??? ....eh...at least I tried...lol. I hope I am close. But at the end of the day, people can interpret things differently in lyrics and poetry. That's what makes it great.
